Autumn 2 News Week 5 December 4th

Good morning everyone,
Another week draws to a close and the Christmas tree is up. Today we will be asking children to come into the hall in their bubbles to add a bauble to the tree.

Enterprise day sale.

Looking ahead to December 16th Pumas class will be hosting a sale of homemade gifts (bookmarks, bracelets, decorations, toys etc.) We will be asking children who wish to choose an item from the class box to pay £1.00 on Parent Pay. Deadline for payment will  be Monday December 14th 12pm.

Our daily Advent calendar- day 4.

Christmas cards

Instead of our usual Christmas post we will be asking children to share messages in one of the following ways:

  • Add a message to our Facebook page.
  • Log into TEAMS and post a message.

Please don’t send your child into school with Christmas cards- thank you.

Well done Alicia, Sophie and Cody. I enjoyed listening to your house advertisements.
Well done Kieran for earning your pen license.

Our attendance for last week was 95.7%.

Any class achieving 100% attendance will earn a non uniform day.

The class with best attendance was Lynx with 99.1%

I am afraid to say that none of our classes were all on time.

Please let us know if your child is unable to attend school- we then do not have to chase you. Thank you.

Please see link to our updated attendance policy

Please keep up to date by reading further for current messages.

Have a lovely day and a relaxing weekend,

Mrs Mason

General Reminders

School Equipment

We have been trying to limit the amount of personal equipment being brought into school so that surfaces are clear and easily cleaned. We have also been limiting things coming home to you to decrease any potential infection risk. We will need to adapt as the term progresses and the weather and the curriculum change. For now we have agreed the following-

  • School uniform worn except for PE days (see below)
  • No bags or book bags needed.
  • Coats only needed if cold or wet.
  • Water bottles needed.
  • If your child is bringing a packed lunch please make sure they can open all bottles and packages themselves.
  • Reading books and diaries will be sent home on Thursdays. We do not need to see them more than once a week.
  • In order to decrease the risk of spreading infection all reading books returned to school will be quarantined until the following week.

Golden Tim

We have been thinking about how we maintain the children’s interest in Golden Time activities as this is key to the success of our behaviour policy. At the moment this is a balancing act between safety guidelines and what we know the children enjoy.

  1. Please do not bring soft toys or malleable play (such as playdough or slime) from home until the situation eases.
  2. Plastic/ metal toys which can be wiped on return home can be brought. These will be stored in your child’s tray and will be for their personal use only.
  3. If a message is sent home that children can bring a bike or a scooter they must be parked in the garden area and not touched or shared in any way,

Keeping up whilst self isolating or in the event of a bubble closure.

I think it is inevitable as time goes on that we will have children self isolating at home. If this happens then please let us know and we will email you with information on how to access learning on the class web pages and our Learning Zone where you will find work to keep your child on track as much as possible.

Pupil emails and log ins.

You will now have received your child’s email address and log in details. These are to be used if we close a bubble due to Covid 19 and will give your child access to Microsoft TEAMS where our online learning will take place.

It is very important that the children are able to access this so that they do not fall behind with their learning. We are practising accessing TEAMS within school but please make sure that these work from home and if you have any issues at all please let us know. Thank you.

Bubble Closure

In the event that we have to close a “bubble” we will provide you with a weekly timetable which will support you with home learning. This will be posted onto the class pages by 9 am each Monday morning.

The timetable will include links to daily English and Maths lessons with your class teacher as well as a story/ class novel session. We will also send home our White Rose Maths booklet for your child to complete.

The final session of the day will be a chance to share work and receive feedback. You can also share your child’s work via Purple Mash or via email to Castle admin.

All lessons with your teacher will be accessed via Microsoft Teams. Below is a leaflet which will support you with this.

How to access Home Learning Resources

Our home learning also incorporates the use of our following online learning platforms. Over the next few days your child will be shown how to access these.

  • Oak National Academy
  • White Rose Maths
  • Purple Mash
  • Times Tables Rockstars
  • Read Theory
  • Spelling Shed
  • My Maths

There will also be links to support independent learning and research into the curriculum theme for the term- Best of Britain.

We will be in contact if you have told us that you do not have access to a computer/tablet. If you have difficulties accessing learning virtually please let us know and together we can work out how to support you.

Thank you.

Mrs Mason
