Spring Term News Week 1 January 6th

Good morning everyone,

It has been a very different start to the term and I must admit I had hoped we would not be back in this position. We have 45 children accessing their education in school and 112 children accessing their education from home. I understand the huge challenge that this represents for you all especially if you are working from home or have children in different year groups or schools. For us in school the challenges of teaching both in the building as well as providing online tuition is also great however the staff team has worked hard to enable the roll out of this. I must stress the importance of supporting and encouraging your child to keep up with their education if they are learning from home so that they do not fall behind.

Teachers will be delivering daily lessons and I will be delivering assemblies and an end of the day session. We will be monitoring engagement in lessons and will be in contact with you if children are not logging in to see if we can support you further. We do already have the list of parents who have said that they have issues with internet or hardware. Please be aware that we are awaiting the laptop allocation from the government.

Please make sure that your child attends the short class meetings which take place tomorrow-

Our home learning offer begins today. This will be done in 2 stages.

Stage 1 Wednesday 6th – Friday 8th January

Please follow the links below to your child’s class page where you will find a timetable with work for these 3 days.

Stage 2 Monday January 11th until February 1/2 term holiday.

Please follow the link to your child’s class page where we will upload the weekly timetable (uploaded each Friday.)

This will contain the links to the live sessions with your child’s teacher. We will be monitoring engagement with the online learning making sure that all children are keeping up with their school work.

The timetable will include links to daily English and Maths lessons with your class teacher as well as a story/ class novel session.

The final session of the day will be a chance to share work and receive feedback. You can also share your child’s work via Purple Mash, via Facebook or via email to Castle admin.

All lessons with your teacher will be accessed via Microsoft Teams. Below are some leaflets which will support you with this.

Our home learning also incorporates the use of our online learning platforms.

There will also be links to support independent learning and research into the curriculum theme for the term.

We will be in contact if you have told us that you do not have access to a computer/tablet. If you have difficulties accessing learning virtually please let us know and together we can work out how to support you.

Pupil emails and log ins.

You have received your child’s email address and log in details. These are to be used next week when our online learning commences. These will give your child access to Microsoft TEAMS.

It is very important that the children are able to access this so that they do not fall behind with their learning. We have practised accessing TEAMS within school but please make sure that these work from home and if you have any issues at all please let us know. Thank you.
