Summer 1 News Week 2 April 23rd

Good morning everyone,

Lynx class you have your non uniform day today for being the class with 100% attendance last week. This morning I will give out certificates to the following children.



Charlie T- for writing a fantastic letter to Hairy Maclary independently.
Evie-Rae- for using her knowledge of 10s frames to confidently explain her reasoning in Maths.


Noah Phillips – for supporting other children in their learning.
Brooklyn Leonard-Foster – for writing CVC words independently.


Ellis for working independently in maths and helping others.

Hollie for making an excellent effort to improve the presentation of her work.


Amelia H – For explaining mathematical answers using key vocabulary and mathematical terms.
Rio Cooper – For being an active member of the class and producing an amazing drawing of a flower.


Izzy  for amazing writing using similes, noun phrases and time connectives. Izzy is joining her letters correctly and presenting her work beautifully.
Jenson  for having a fantastic attitude to learning. Jenson takes responsibility for his own learning and enjoys challenging himself.


Leon  – for constantly striving to be the best he can be.

Freya  – for being an excellent class role model.


Harry- For improved concentration and contributions during maths.
Ella – for a great discussion regarding vocabulary when writing her poem about The Frozen Kingdom.

Well done to

Isabella, Amelie, Libby, Millie, Lottie D, Erin, Scarlett A, Alisha P, Ethan N and Olivia for being awarded your pen licence. This means you have your demonstrated that you can write using our handwriting style across all of your work.


I have earned 10 Team Points for my writing.


Well done to Lynx class you have earned a non uniform day on Friday with 100% attendance last week.

Well done to Pumas class for all being on time every day last week.

Did you know even a few minutes late each day can add up to many minutes lost learning time?

Please let us know if your child is unwell so that we do not have to phone you for a reason- thank you.

Don’t forget our Reading Challenge

Please encourage your child to read at home. Remember reading at least 4 x per week- 1 sticker on our reading challenge chart. Reading more than this = 2 stickers. When children earn enough stickers they can choose a reward from our School Council shop,

Uniform Policy

If you are struggling with school uniform we do have spares in school. These can be loaned to the children (please note these are washed and stored for the appropriate time after use.) During the current Covid 19 pandemic  the windows will be open so if the weather is cooler then please consider sending your child with an extra layer of clothing.

 Please make sure your child is wearing their school uniform and remember that children should not be wearing nail polish or any jewellery other than a watch or small stud earrings which they must be able to remove themselves on PE days.

We do have various uniform available in school ready to purchase and take away.
If we do not hold the uniform you need in school you can now order from our new supplier here:

The uniform is:

  • red sweatshirt or cardigan (with or without the Castle Academy logo)
  • White polo shirt or white formal shirt
  • Grey formal trousers/shorts/skirt/grey pinafore/red gingham dress
  • Grey/white socks or black/red/grey tights
  • Formal black shoes/short boots or black trainers. No open toed sandals or ballet pumps.
  • Please  make sure everything has your child’s name in it.

PE uniform:

  • A plain white T-shirt or one with the Castle logo
  • Black or grey shorts/ jogging trousers
  • red sweatshirt or cardigan (with or without the Castle Academy logo)
  • Trainers
  • For safety reasons, cycle shorts and those made of Lycra are not permitted.
  • Children with longer hair should have hair tied up or bring a hair bobble that they can use.
  • Children should be able to remove their own jewellery.



PE kit worn on PE days.

Lynx- Monday

Tigers- Friday

Leopards- Monday


Cougars and Panthers (Y4)- Thursday

Pumas- Tuesdays and Wednesday

  • No bags or book bags needed.
  • Coats only needed if cold or wet.
  • Water bottles needed.
  • School lunches available. If your child is bringing a packed lunch please make sure they can open all bottles and packages themselves.
  • Please do not enter the site unless you have been asked to do so. Please adhere to social distance when dropping off or picking up your child, If  you are not able to do this then please wear a face mask.
  • Please do not send your child to school or enter the site if you are feeling unwell.
  • Before and after school clubs will not resume until restrictions ease.
