Castle Curriculum

At Castle Academy, we believe that our curriculum should inspire every child to achieve their very best, not only through the National Curriculum, but through a rich tapestry of life skills, experiences, and opportunities that prepare them for the future.

We want our children to leave Castle as confident, capable and compassionate Castle Citizens, rooted in their community, proud of who they are, and ready to make a difference in the wider world.

The Castle Curriculum is designed to ignite curiosity, nurture talent and build strong foundations for lifelong learning. We believe education should extend beyond the classroom, teaching children how to think, question, collaborate and care.

We have carefully developed a curriculum that reflects our values, celebrates our local area, and meets the social and educational needs of our community. Everything we do is shaped by our five key curriculum drivers, the qualities and skills we want every child to develop during their journey through Castle Academy.

Curriculum Drivers:

  • Scholarship: We foster a love of learning and academic excellence. Children are encouraged to think deeply, ask questions, and take pride in achieving their very best across all areas of the curriculum.
  • Curiosity: We want our learners to wonder, explore and seek out knowledge about the world around them. Curiosity drives creativity, discovery and a lifelong thirst for learning.
  • Tenacity: Our pupils learn to be resilient and determined. We teach them to keep going when learning is challenging and to view mistakes as opportunities to grow.
  • Empathy: We help children understand the feelings, experiences and perspectives of others. Through empathy, they develop kindness, respect and the ability to build positive relationships.
  • Aspiration: We believe every child should dream big. We inspire children to set ambitious goals for their future and support them to believe that anything is possible through hard work and perseverance.

Castle in the Community

Castle Academy is at the heart of its community and our curriculum reflects this. We celebrate our local heritage, connect learning to real-life experiences, and work closely with families, local organisations and partners to give our pupils the best start in life.

From community projects and enrichment days to outdoor learning and leadership opportunities, every experience within the Castle Curriculum helps our children grow into well-rounded, responsible citizens who are proud to belong to Team Castle.

The Castle Curriculum in Action

  • Inspiring learning experiences that connect knowledge and skills across subjects
  • A strong focus on personal development and wellbeing
  • Enrichment opportunities that broaden horizons and raise aspirations
  • Meaningful links with our local area and community role models
  • A shared language of learning and character through our Castle Chest traits

At Castle Academy, we don’t just teach subjects, we build character, confidence and community. Through the Castle Curriculum, we are shaping young people who are curious thinkers, kind friends, resilient learners and proud Castle Citizens, ready for whatever adventure comes next.
